Precision Care for Upholstery and Fine Furniture
Designed for Looks, Cleaned with Science.
Modern high-end furniture is often designed with appearance as the priority, incorporating exotic fabrics and complex blends that simply aren’t made for the practicalities of everyday living.
At Cottesloe Carpet Cleaning, we treat upholstery with the respect it demands. We understand the vast difference between a durable synthetic blend and a delicate natural fiber. Our 30 years of experience mean we know exactly how to read a fabric, and more importantly, we know our limits.
The Cottesloe Guarantee: We meticulously check manufacturer care labels before we begin. If your furniture features an unfamiliar exotic blend and the care label is missing, we will politely decline the job. We value your investment far too much to rely on guesswork.
The Right Tool for a Delicate Job
While our industrial truck-mounted system is perfect for carpets, fine upholstery requires finesse, not brute force.
That is why we utilize dedicated, specialized portable extraction machines for your furniture. These systems are specifically engineered to deliver a much lower, precisely controlled water pressure. This allows us to deeply flush the fabric and remove embedded body oils without over-wetting the cushioning beneath or stressing the delicate weaves.

Frequently Asked Questions.
Can you clean my velvet/linen/silk sofa?
We have extensive experience with high-end fabrics, including complex blends. However, because natural fibers can be highly reactive to moisture, we must assess the piece in person.
We value your investment, we always check the manufacturer’s care label first. If your furniture requires specialized dry-cleaning solvents beyond our scope, we will honestly tell you rather than risk the fabric.
Why do my sofa armrests look so dark?
The areas where skin rests most frequently—armrests and the headrest area—absorb natural body oils over time. Dirt and dust then stick to these oils, creating dark patches. Our targeted pre-treatments are specifically designed to break down these lipid bonds safely.
How long will my lounge take to dry?
Because we use low-pressure moisture delivery combined with thorough ‘dry passes’ to extract the water, drying times are significantly reduced. Most upholstery is dry within 4 to 8 hours, depending on the fabric thickness and the airflow in the room, although some couches will dry overnight.
We can work around your heavy furniture or help move lighter items like sofas and tables as needed. We always place protective tabs under furniture legs to prevent wood stains or rust transferring to the freshly cleaned carpet.
Major carpet manufacturers recommend that you vacuum carpet daily and have them professionally steam cleaned every 6 – 12 months. It most cases we recommend having a thorough carpet clean at least once a year.
How often should I have my upholstery cleaned?
Upholstery should not be allowed to become soiled to the extent where the fabric becomes noticeably or visibly discoloured. A good rule-of-thumb is that most upholstery should have a maintenance clean every 18-24 months or before soils and oils build up and stains the fabric.
Absolutely. As specialists in the Western Suburbs, we understand natural fibers. We use safe and appropriate chemistry that cleans effectively without damaging the natural fibres.
Can you guarantee all stains will be removed?
If a stain can be removed, we have the chemistry and experience to remove it. However, some spills permanently alter or dye the upholstery fiber. During our initial examination, we will assess any problem areas and give you a straightforward, honest appraisal of what is possible.
Why is another carpet cleaning company I’ve spoken to, cheaper than you?
Different carpet cleaning companies operate different machines, have different specifications, and sadly, vastly different standards – We believe we are very competitively priced for the service that we provide.
The truth is, we don’t compete on price. We compete on quality (if our competitors want to beat us, they have to beat the quality and standard of cleaning that we produce).
